Location of the Agulhas Current
Daily maps for the Location of the Agulhas Current's Core and Edges (LACCE) acquired by running the LACCE algorithm (Russo et al., submitted) on daily maps of near real-time altimetry data as well as on the Operational Mercator global ocean analysis and forecast product. Both datas were obtained from the Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring System (CMEMS) website (https://marine.copernicus.eu/). LACCE defines the core as the location of the local maximum speed and the edges are defined as the location of the local maximum gradient in speed around the core. More detail regarding the algorithm will be available in Russo, C.S., Lamont, T. and Krug, M.J., Spatial and Temporal Variability of the Agulhas Retroflection: Observations from the new LACCE algorithm, submitted to Remote Sensing of Environment.
