Sea surface temperature
Maps of the Sea Surface Temperature (SST) are displayed daily. Two SST products are displayed to account for regional differences which have been observed in merged SST products in the Southern African region (Carr et al. submitted). The 1km SST product (MUR-JPL v4.1) is produced by http://earthdata.nasa.gov/our-community/community-data-system-programs/measures-projects JPL MUR MEaSUREs Project and disturbed by Physical Oceanography Distributed Active Archive Center https://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov/dataset/MUR-JPL-L4-GLOB-v4.1?ids=&values=&search=mur (https://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov/). The 9km SST product (REMSS MW_IR v5.0) is produced by (http://www.remss.com/) Remote Sensing Systems and can be accessed at (http://data.remss.com/SST/daily/mw_ir/) http://data.remss.com/SST/daily/mw_ir/. The REMSS MW_IR product is used to calculate the daily SST anomalies. The anomalies are referenced from a 31 day moving average climatolgy (from 2002-2019).
